Ripple Farm update - plunging temperatures!

23 March 2015

Spring has gone backwards here in East kent this week with a bitterly cold east wind and persistent cloud cover all last week stopping all new growth, hence our greens are still limited and chard even more scarce!

On a positive note it has remained dry and we have been cracking on with lots more spring ploughing and cultivating ground ready for more crops to get planted as soon as it warms up.  We have also got some early crops of spring onions and early potatoes planted.

back to this week our stored "hokoido" squash has now finished and we only have crown prince squash left.

chard is still very limited and is likely to have a gap next week! However mixed kale is still in reasonable supply.

And spinach is still off the list, though I'm hoping we will have a little bit next week or the week after depending on some warmth.

Cheers martin

p.s if you have seen some sun up london in the last 10 days, please bear in mind that we are only 50 miles east of you and havn't seen a glimpse of it !
