Word just in from our fishing cooperative Kernow Sashimi is that we have a good range of oily and white fish being lined up - plenty of Cod and Mackerel, as well as Pollock, Whiting, Pouting, Smooth Hound &Wrasse.
No Haddock this week and indeed we have only had 20kg caught by any boats in the cooperative this year. This can happen, especially when taking fish from in-shore boats. Why? Because fish migrate from one year to the next, and if boats are only going upto 15 miles out (as in-shore ones do), then they are more likely to experience these kind of variations.
It has no necessary connection with stock levels, so please dont assume that haddock in Cornwall is on the wane.
