Whittingtons Brewery was established in early 2003 as part of the Three Choirs estate, which is set in 75 acres of rolling vineyards in the Gloucestershire countryside.
The brewery is named after one of Gloucestershire's most famous sons, Dick Whittington. Legend has it that Dick was born in the hamlet of Pauntley, near to the site of the vineyard, and lived in nearby Gloucester before embarking on his adventurous life in London. Our beer names concentrate on Whittington's cat, Puss, who became as famous as Dick Whittington himself!
All Whittington's beers are "bottle conditionned", meaning that they retain a little bit of yeast in each bottle and so continue to ferment or "condition". Most bottled beers are "bright" beers, meaning that they are filtered and pasteurised before being bottled, and this results in a signficant reduction in taste. Hopefully will find these beers delicious!
Darkstar 'Sunburst' Golden Ale (500ml)
A hint of initial sweetness adds to the fruitiness and grapefruit tang of this summer ale without detracting from its clean flavour and rich hop aroma.
