This week's recipe from Tori is her Thai Fish cakes.  Made using fresh white fish such as ling or haddock, these fish cakes are perfect for a summer evening. Also from Tori this week is her Tzatziki recipe, perfect for dipping all Farm Direct's fresh seasonal vegetable, or with lamb burgers or lamb chops.

Now is the Cuttlefish season - these strange cephalopods come in-shore between late April and early June in order to drop their eggs. They die soon afterwards, which is why you might see them washed up on the sea-shore.

The vast majority of them never see the English table - instead they are packed off to France, England & Asia, where they are highly valued. The only bit of them that we "value" is the hard bone that we put inside our budgie cages to help the birds keep their beaks sharp! Cheaper than squid, they are none the less delicious, and we highly recommend them.

Dylan catches them in nets, though they can be fished with pots - in which case, fishermen will quite often put a female in the pot, and then all the male cuttle are attracted in.

We have two bank holiday Fridays coming up on 22^nd& 29^th April, and so we are bringing our ordering deadlines forward by 24 hours in these two weeks, so that you can have your weekly order either in good time for Easter weekend, and in time for the Royal Wedding (Friday 29^th).

 

Order deadlines for these two weeks

For the week beginning 18^th April (Easter week), deadlines will be 1pm Wednesday 20^th for orders containing meat, and Thursday 21^st for all other orders.

For the week beginning 25^th April (Royal Wedding week), deadlines will be 1pm Wednesday 27^th for orders containing meat, and Thursday 28^th for all other orders.
